There is a relatively low incidence of cross-allergy with beta-lactic and cephalosporin antibiotics, but amoxicillin or clavulanate should be used cautiously in patients with these allergies. Amoxicillin or clavulanate can produce false positive results in urine tests for glucose. Amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium is a combination medicine that is used for treating various types of infections in adults and children. It is an antibiotic that works by preventing bacteria from making cell walls, which eventually causes the bacteria to die.
